The self-titled debut album from Bill Fay arrived in 1970, three years after his debut single had sneaked out on Deram. The Dylan-esque song structures had now become dramatic backdrops lifted by Mike Gibbs’ string arrangements on what in retrospect is an epic set. “A rich, dark record that capture the dream-is-over mood of its time but has all the era’s sonic ambition too.” claimed MOJO. A true gothic classic before the terminology brought images of Bela Lugosi and eyeliner.
