Fay’s second album was virtually ignored on its release in 1971. A simpler set of arrangements meant his piano was augmented by the occasional wind instrument, guitar and percussion. It’s a melancholy feel but hugely rewarding as MOJO suggested in their five star review following its re-release. “A simple and yet impenetrable masterpiece.” claimed Andrew Male in his review, largely due to the fact that Fay’s dabbling in free jazz prior to the recording and the concept of the assembled musicians playing live to songs they’d never heard before, made it a completely different sounding experience.
