The debut US album from this Brazilian singer/songwriter was recorded in New jersey in 1968 with Creed Taylor at the controls and a band that consisted of Herbie Hancock, Eumir Deodato and percussionist Airto among others. Using songs from his past, this set, which was put down to appeal to an American audience is a cool selection of slow, jazzy, rhythmic Latin music that’s hugely impressive due to the quality of songs and the simplicity of the production.
