Originally a Japan-only release from 1997 that brought together UK releases and odd curios - such as the band’s cover of electronic hero Gary Numan’s Stormtroopers In Drag - Continental was released during a period of some hiatus with all three band members concentrating on various side and solo projects. Now expanded and remastered to form a 27-track Ets extravaganza, the original has been augmented with demos, curios and several remixes. Saint Etienne have always been super productive and hugely eclectic, their music a fine balance between dancefloor modernity and retro obsessiveness. True to form, them this incredible deluxe edition is one helluva satisfyingly diverse journey.
