Named after the mnemonic for the musical scale, EGBDF took an incisive look at the creation of music on its opening track Procession, which started with grunting band members in true Neanderthal style. With minimal spoken word, this was The Moody Blues sliding into prog rock heaven with the Mellotron turned up to 11 and the introduction of the Moog synth. Their hair was longer, they were letting themselves go and the opening Procession showed all the possibilities. Elsewhere there were songs inspired by Beatrix Potter, new daughters and a study of the social and ecological revolution. These guys were no slouches when it came to composition as this heady set illustrates.
