Recorded in 1996 after a lengthy world tour on the back of the international success of Orbus Terrarum, Orblivion didn’t actually surface until the following year. Moving back to the dreamier soundscapes of old, Orblivion again sat outside of the current music trends. This year’s re-issue features a staggering selection or rare remixes that take the original work way further out there, adding strings, eastern mystical noise and uncomfortable in-your-ear dialogue. It’s too close for comfort at times but always exhilarating, the whole work a masterpiece that, like most latter period Orb, has gone unheralded.
