A second album from 1972, Rock ‘n’ Roll Gypsies, with its autobiographical title track and cover of Jimi Hendrix’s Angel underlining their blues rock feel with Elkie Brooks sounding sporadically like Janis Joplin and Robert Palmer acting as the perfect foil for her gritty low notes and caterwauling highs. Having toured extensively through the year, the band were tighter and the dual vocal sound made them sound like a chunkier soul revue with plenty of sass.
